Bomb

In the event of a Bomb threat it will be up to the manager or Police to decide to evacuate the premises immediately, or conduct a search.

In the event of a search this should be done in a calm controlled manner.  You should not use digital radio or mobile communication devices.  This is because some Bombs are detonated remotely using a digital signal.  Stick strictly to the search procedures used in that venue - if you don't know what they are - ask your Manager and write them down.  Once you have searched the section you have been given - make sure it is secure (no one can get back in) - and report back in person.  For this to be effective it needs to be practised, so that everyone knows their roles and responsibilities.

If you should identify a suspect 'bag' or package' you should ask if the people in the immediate vicinity if they own the bag.  If the package cannot be identified then you should calmly and politely ask people to move away, from the vicinity, whilst you or a colleague informs the manager.

Remember if you think it might be a bomb!

 TREAT IT AS A BOMB!

Do not touch it, open it, move it, prod it, or kick it!

Where safety allows people should be encouraged to leave the area.  You must then make sure all windows and doors are left open, to reduce the force of the explosion, and the likelihood of injuries from flying glass, etc.

It is well worth making the effort to attend the Project Argos & Project Griffin presentation given by the Police.
