Doorwatch meetings - a shared experience

There many good reasons for going to a Doorwatch meeting - not least of which is having the opportunity to talk to others who understand what its like to be a Door Supervisor.

Recently we have heard of two incidents where Door Supervisors had been involved in dealing with non-venue related fatalities.  In both these incidents they did everything to save the life of the person concerned.  It was clear both were suffering from post-traumatic stress, but neither had anyone, or any place they could go, and talk to people who knew the score.  So where could they go - who could they talk to?  If they did try and talk to a colleague - would that colleague think they were weak or worse still take the mickey? 

Thats why a Doorwatch meeting is a fantastic place to go and get things off your chest ,with people who do understand the job.  In terms of handling the stresses and pressures of the job, it is just what the Doctor ordered.  Its all about sharing experiences, good and bad, breaking down barriers, and working together to keep each other safe within the limits of the law.
