Free First Aid bonanza for Coventry Doorwatch at Sunday 21st Meeting

Sunday 21st February saw over 20 members give up their time to attend thier first meeting after Xmas.  Lackey was able to give them an update on the current situation at both National and local level.  He was also able to confirm the 30 free places for the full First Aid at Work course.  He said "Take up has been fantastic! We would never have been given this sort of support before and it makes us feel valued and respected.  We look forward to showing what a good investment this has been in our Doorwatch.

They heard about issues of mutual concern from the local licensing officer PC Claire Marston who has been rapidly earning the trust of the the Door Supervisors on the ground.  Claire, talking about the positive effects of partnership working, told this reporter, "...the difference in the communication between the Door Supervisors and ourselves, is like night and day."

Although there is still more to be done, the benefits of the progamme for both sides are fantastic.  Both the Doorwatch members and Claire's senior management should be thanked, especially Chief Superindendent Glover, who publically recognised the importance of the Door Supervisors potential contribution to the safety of the Night-time economy at the pre Xmas meeting.
