Information & Support for Door Supervisors - National Doorwatch

After a number of enquiries from concerned Door Supervisors, and a mountain of myths, National Doorwatch Steering Group (NDSG), is going to find out exactly what the legal situation is with the Taxman!

"To be employed or to be self-employed, that is the question" - National Doorwatch to get to the bottom of Tax and Door Supervisors.

Last June, at an SIA Door Supervisor Industries Network Meeting, in London, we were treated to a talk on the Taxmans' view of who pays for Tax and N.I.  The two ladies in question gave an excellent presentation that saw the colour drain from the faces of more than one or two attendee's  - especially at the end when they told us "they knew where we lived" - the silence was deafening!

The problem was of course no one wanted to ask questions in case it drew attention to themselves or thier company.  It was left to those working outside the industry or members of the SIA to ask the questions most wanted answering.  However, that doesn't really offer the best solution.  What's needed is an independent voice who can give an annonymous platform for visitors to find out the "real deal" when it comes to Door Supervisors and their Tax Status.  It is for this reason the NDSG is going to approach the HMRC and find out their views.  We shall also be looking for advice from the other side of the fence to make sure we give as balanced a view as possible.
