The continued use of the term "Bouncer" by the media is outdated, inappropriate, and deeply offensive to the vast majority of those working in this extremely challenging industry. It reinforces a negative image of our profession and creates a negative stereotype which affects the safety of all.

National Doorwatch to seek the removal of the term "Bouncer" from Dictionary.

National Doorwatch is asking all Door Supervisors and other SIA License linked professionals to support its campaign to have the term "Bouncer" removed from the dictionary.  The continued use of this term reinforces the image of Door Supervisors specifically, and Security professionals generally, as thugs.  We need to raise Public and Media awareness that the continued use of these negative stereotypes put both the Door Supervisors and the Public at risk.  The Door Supervisors H&S, continued employment, and sometimes actual freedom , are considered something that "goes with the territory, and actually encourages conflict with customers.
