Risk Assessments (RA)

Every place of work is required by Law to have had a Health & Safety (H&S) RA.

A RA is carried out to identify the risks visitors and you face when you enter the building.  This information is then used to help you know what and what not to do, in your job.  Part of this information will tell you what to do in basic emergencies such as a fire or an accident.

Employers Responsibilities

Your Employer is required by Law to help the Client keep everyone safe, by making sure you know the rules for that site. These are normally kept in a book or folder, and are called Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). SOP usually contain information like, Assignment Instructions, Site maps, Emergency telephone numbers for Managers, Emergency Repairs, How to fill out Incident Reports, etc.

Your Responsibilities

You are required by Law to help your Employer and their Client keep the site safe. You are required by Law to inform your manager of any H&S issues and record it in the Daily Occurrences Book (DOB). If nothing is done to sort it out - then you need to let them know regularly. Keep a record of what you write in your personal Pocket Book.

Emergencies won't wait a few days for you to settle in!
