Bill Butler issues a clarion call to all those working in the Security Industry, and Door Supervisors in particular.

Bill Butler arrived at the Conference knowing what would be the main topic of interest.  He wasted little time in getting down to business.  He told the conference when he accepted the invitation from Andy Walker to speak at the Safer Doors Conference, his team had all told him what happened the last time.  The former C.E.O. had found out he had lost his job, during the conference.  He explained "Given all the current media speculation, by the time the conference was over that day he may go one better - by losing his job and his entire orgainisation!" 

All jokes aside he then told the delegates that he knew as much as they did about the current situation.  He made it clear it was "business as usual" for the SIA until they were told differently.  He explained there would have to be a period of transition, in the event of any changes, large or small. 

The key question the industry had to face, especially those who felt excluded in the original consultations,  was how they were going to influence change.  He issued a clarion call to the Door Supervisors by saying this may represent a real opportunity to make a difference.  "Now was the time to speak up for the future they wanted - whether or not that future included the SIA in its current form."
