Information & Support for Door Supervisors - National Doorwatch

National Doorwatch are very grateful for the support given by the SIA to the Doorwatch project. Being listed in their Trade Bodies and Associations is a further demonstration of this support.

The listing of National Doorwatch by the SIA under Trade Bodies and Associations is an extremely positve step.  Whilst in and of itself it does not confer recognition or approval of Doorwatch, it is a reward for all the hard work and effort, put in by the National Doorwatch Steering Group over the last 4 years.  Gerald Eva and Jason Gardner were extremely proud that their idea of a place, where Door Supervisors could go to meet and discuss the challenges and issues they faced on a weekly basis, was capturing the imagination of fellow professionals across the nation.

The Chairman of National Doorwatch, Ian Fox, commented "this is a good day for Gerald and Jason, and for the team as a whole.  We are all well aware we still have a long way to go if we are to achieve our goals.  We hope this will help encourage others to join with us to help make those goals a reality.  We particularly hope it will demonstrate to our partners in the Night-time economy that we are here to help." 

This statement is supported by all the committee,  The treasurer, Pat Parkes, hoped our partners in the Police, Local and National Government, would realise that Door Supervisors were worth the investment.  She said "Door Supervisors already pay out a large amount of their earnings on licensing, training, and Personal Protective Equipment, with absolutely no guarantee of work.  It is unfair to expect them to pay out anymore for membership."

Following on from this Ian Fox made it clear National Doorwatch is here to stay and is busy putting together a more detailed plan of its aims and ambitions for all Door Supervisors to see.  Indeed transparency is considered a crucial element of the Doorwatch Project.
