National Doorwatch Chairman Ian Fox, said he was really pleased to have the opportunity to speak to Swansea Door Supervisors about the Doorwatch Project. He made it clear that the upcoming changes in regulation were a real opportunity for them to build on the very positive work being done by Steve Williams.
On the subject of Fake ID agreement was virtually unanimous, in asking for it to be treated as a serious offence. Almost all agreed that writing a letter of apology was not sufficient, given they could lose their jobs. What was really pleasing was the positive response of the Chief Superintendent, who has promised to look at alternatives to enforcing this more robustly.
The highlight of the night was seeing the awards presented to Door Supervisors for their contribution to the night-time economy of Swansea. All the recipients deserved the recognition and this is exactly the kind of thing which should be happening all over the country.
The final award of the evening went to Steve Williams himself, and in the opinion of National Doorwatch was thoroughly deserved. His efforts, and his desire to promote the professionalism of DS in Swansea, should be used as a template throughout the UK. In the coming months and years of cutbacks, it will be the estabilishment of this kind of partnership which will do most, to make our Towns and Cities safer places for our families and communities to enjoy a night out.
National Doorwatch are full of praise for the organisation and the work of Steve Williams. Swanseas' Night-time Economy Officer. Swansea Door Supervisors conference a great success.
